Tips and Tricks: Faux textured metal in a jiffy!

Hello! Tracy here with another tip for Globecraft & Piccolo products.

As you already know G&P Embossing powders are a wonderful addition to many art and craft projects. You can get a wonderful bumpy texture with a flash heat set or a super smooth finish with the total heat set with their embossing powders.

Their Embossing Powders are made of varying-sized particles that allow for depth and dimension not available with traditional embossing powders. You can use clear stamps on the hot embossing powder to create a finish that looks like metal.

Start with applying G&P Embossing Powder Adhesive to the bookboard bezel and one layer of G&P embossing powder (I used Vintage Silver) using the total heat set technique (heat the embossing powder grains until they melt to a smooth finish). Repeat with a second layer of G&P Embossing Powder.

Pick you favorite clear stamp and place on a acrylic block. Reheat the chipboard coated with embossing powder. Before the embossing powder cools press the stamp onto the bezel. Let cool and carefully remove the stamp. You can always ink the stamp before pressing into the embossing powder for a vintage look.

Coat the finished piece with Glastique Gloss Finishing Glaze to protect and seal your pattern. There you have it! A quick way to get wonderful texture and depth that looks like real embossed metal without taking hours to make. :)

Until next time, Safe travels!

I love all the texture you can create by stamping into the heated embossing powders.
