Graffiti and Gears (aka the card that wanted to go steampunk)

I have a girlie glam kind of card for you today! I started with the gears and thought I'd go steampunk (seems that Sandy and I were sharing some creative vibes!), but as you can see, this card went in a different direction...

Here are the supplies you'll need:

The bling on a roll is so easy to use! It's faux bling that comes 'stringed', so you can cut it to size. It's so sparkly! You can use alcohol based markers, such as Copics to customize the bling to match your project and 1/8" Super Sticky Tape to adhere the bling.

The Mardi Gras Embossing Enamel is such a lovely steampunk/vintage mix - burgundy and gold. The various sized particles really worked with this design giving it depth and texture right where it was needed!

The Accents are easy to color with 3D Enamel Gels or embossing enamels (or any other coloring medium for that matter!), but I decided to leave them natural.

And a bit of Embossing Enamel splatter using the Mardi Gras! See the spots of gold?

Steampunk Mixed Media

 

Sandy here with you today with my second try at a mixed media canvas.  I began with the wonderful Mini Steampunk Airship Kit.  Using Vintage Black, Vintage Copper and Vintage Gold Piccolo Enamel, I heat embossed the various pieces of the ship.  I only wanted to use 1/2 of the airship for my project as I wanted one side to be flat for adhering to my canvas.  I added a couple of extra gears for more dimension inside the globe.  And I added a Steampunk Airship Accent to the nose of my ship.  I set that aside. 

Next I went to work on my 9 x 12 inch canvas.  I used a huge amount of Piccolo's on this canvas.  It was great fun to mix them up and layer them.  I am not sure I can list them all but will try at the end of this post.  I started with the two bubble backgrounds.  I added three mesh borders from Cheery Lynn Designs and then just filled in all the other spots.  The bottle cap, flowers and clothespin are the only other items that are not Piccolos.

I used my Copic airbrush to add color.  I did not have any shimmer paints in the colors I wanted.  I did add some shimmer mist over the background when I was done coloring to add a bit of sparkle.  The last step was to add my Airship and I found out that I had not chosen wisely with my embossing powders.  But I took my Copic marker that I used to airbrush the copper color and colored over the embossing powder on the frame of the ship so it now matches.

And The Day Came. . .

I made this card for myself.  I love quotes, as most of you who read my blog know, and this one is just so fitting for me right now.  So, when I saw it, I decided to make myself a card - I deserve one! Plus, with spring here I wanted be colorful and use some flowers - Globecraft & Piccolo's products are perfect for both!

What I used to make the card:

• Square white card base, 5 ¼” x 5 ¼”
• LA106 Stacey’s Stacking Flowers
• Ruby Red Slippers, Royal Sterling, Cranberry Wine, Deep Blue Sky and Girls Night Out Embossing Enamel
• Embossing Fluid
• Wendy Vecchi’s Blooming Art stamp set, SCS119
• Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black
• Wendy Vecchi’s Archival Ink in Fern Green
• Scrap of White Cardstock for the sentiment
• Crafters Pick Glue

The first step in making this card was stamping the leafy branch for the background.  I used the stamp in the Blooming Arts set and stamped it four times, kind of in each corner, but I wasn’t so exact about it.  I thought the Fern Green ink would be perfect for all my colorful flowers.

Then I stamped the sentiment on the scrap white cardstock, trimmed it and placed it in the middle of the card.  I didn’t glue anything down at this point.

I set about embossing my flowers from Stacey’s Stacking Flowers set.  I love how the flowers have the grooves cut deep into the chipboard – you can see them even when the flowers have been embossed. Also, you can turn the flowers around and while the grooves are slightly visible, the flowers are smoother.  In the picture, I used the flowers with the full grooves, on the top. 

I just choose a bunch of the flowers, (there are 24 in the pack!) before I embossed them, and placed them around the card, getting a feel for what size flower I wanted where.  Then I embossed them with the Embossing Enamel – one time each.  If I had spots where I didn’t fully ink the flower with the Embossing Fluid, I used a paintbrush to fill in the spot and embossed that spot only. 

Lastly, I glued the sentiment in place first and then adhered the flowers.  It really is a lovely card – I love the sparkles and the blended colors in the Embossing Enamel. I realize the quote may be difficult to read due to the type face it is in, so this is the quote: "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was greater than the risk it took to bloom."

Pretty Little Gift Jar

Hello out there! Aimee here with a sweet little spring project.

I like to keep and reuse cute jars in my crafty studio. The jar for this project was once a cheap scented candle.

Supplies:

Piccolos LA106 Stacking Flowers

Aged Pink Enamel Powder

Enamel Adhesive Fluid

Jar, heat gun, burlap strip, pearl trim, ribbon, flowers, hot glue gun, bling for flower center.

1. Punch out a large flower. Coat with Adhesive Fluid and then with the powder. Heat that baby up to melt the powder and activate the adhesive. Repeat. 

2. Wrap some burlap around the jar and secure ends with hot glue. Repeat with ribbon and pearls. 

3. Add some pretty little flowers. 

5. Now use that glue gun and add your pretty pink Piccolo flower. Add bling to the center.

All done! Fill with something fun like chocolate and give to a friend :)

For the regular readers here, it is probably evident that my style runs towards the shabby, simple, but still unique. 

This package wrap fits all three of those words. 

And it is SO SIMPLE - with the exception of waiting for the 3D Gel to dry, I made three of these types of tags in 15 minutes. 

Let's get started. 

Shopping list. 

 - Coral Pearl 3D Enamel Gel

- Ivory Creative Inspirations Paint (I love this stuff)

- Cameo Girls Charms 

Extras

- a gift tag blank (I make these collaged ones all the time with my bitty scraps and keep them on hand)

- all purpose glue (this is clear gel glue)

- small paint brush

- embellishments to fill out the tag (I used a couple of pink buttons from the stash)

- pink yarn or floss.

Now lets get started. 

I used the Ivory Paint as a base coat for the entire piece.I even left the whole thing as one piece. 

Separate the center and the outer part.  The next step is really the only "pay attention" step.

SHAKE the Coral Pearl 3D gel really well. You can see that the lighter shimmer separates in the bottle - simply shake well to mix this back up (much like nail polish).

Coat the outer part of the charm set with the Coral Pearl Enamel Gel. (Do not get the 3D Gel down into the opening. You will understand why in a couple of steps. )

Paint the center girl medallion with layers of the IVORY Creative Inspirations paint until she is a gorgeous sparkly splendor as well.

Let them dry overnight.

The great thing about using the two different coloring methods is that there is a lot of dimension to the finished tag.

Reassemble the two pieces.

I love the marbled effect the gel has.

Add to your tag base and glue both pieces onto the tag.

Add your embellishments to the rest of the tag.

Add your ribbon and tie to a sweet baby girl gift.

A quick and simple package tie on.

Molten Fat Book Page

 Happy Wednesday everyone! leslierahye  sharing a molten Fat Book Page. One of my favorite things to create is little fat books--they are little 4×4" chunky books. Often artists will create a page and swap with other artists. You can also just create the whole book yourself. 

For this fat book page, I began by layering stamps--first the small harlequin with a chalk ink, dusted with Victorian  Bronze. Each layer is heat set before moving on. Next the edges were rubbed with the adhesive fluid and dipped in Aged White powder. Then Aged White and Starry Sky were sprinkled about the cover and heat set. Finally a definition stamp was stamped with chalk ink and heat embossed with Black Detail enamel. 

 A few pieces of the Gear Accents were heat embossed with the Rust and Vintage Copper.They were glued to the fat book page --I LOVE how these two colors of enamel look when heated!

Hair Barrette

Morning everyone Tracy here. 

I just wanted to show you how versatile the Enamel Powders can be. 

I had a couple of Hair Barrette Slides and using Bahama Aqua powder & 3 of the smallest flowers from Stacey's Stacking flowers I made my very own custom Hair Barrette

I love how it turned out ! I finished it off with a layer of Instant UV resin to give it some extra protection, but just image how you could use the other Enamel Powders & Piccolos to create some fantastic accessories !
